Boomerang Express and middle of the night Whataburger trips

While this may be a tad early, I don’t imagine I will have time to post my birthday blog the week of my birthday so here it is:

June 26, 1984, your’s truly entered the world in the middle of the night. It is no wonder that I am a night owl given the time of my birth. I was born here in Houston at a hospital whose name has changed as many times as children have been born there. I was the first born to my parents just weeks after their first year anniversary of marraige.

There is alot that will happen before my next birthday. Well, as long as everything goes along with my plan. In this 25th year of my life I will experience the fourth decade that I will have lived in (for those of you who are confused, I was born in the 80s, lived in the 90s,00s, and next year is 2010).  I also plan on graduating from Midwestern State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Radiologic Sciences. I will be the first person in my immediate family to gain a Bachelor’s degree and currently am still the only one in the immediate family that has a degree at all. When I do graduate, I will be one of two people in my extended family that has a bachelor’s degree.

I think I will make note of the 25 most memorable moments in my life:

25) The day I became friends with my best friend in high school Jonathan

24) The day I purchased my condo.

23) The day I got accepted to the radiology program at San Jacinto College

22) The day my brother Josh was born

21) The day I graduated from San Jacinto College

20) The day I bought my first car

19) The day I paid that car off

18) The day I graduated highschool

17) The day I broke up with the girl that I dated longer than any other girl I have dated

16) The day that caused me to be in the place I am now

15) The day my best friend Clay got into his motorcycle accident

14) The last day I spoke with my grandfather when he was on his death bed and I had to put my ear to his mouth so I could hear what he was telling me

13) My first car accident and only car accident that did damage to my car

12) The day I took my board exam

11) The first time I allowed myself to be under the influence of alcohol

10) Moving out of my parents house (currently I have only done this one time)

9) The day I was expelled from “christian” school

8) The only detention I ever attained, and my attempt to hide it from my parents

7) My first kiss (as awkward as that was/ continues to be)

6) When my best friend, Megan told me she was pregnant with Owen

5) When I found out my baby sister was actually another baby brother

4) An arguement between several of my roomates at 4am

3) When I got my industrial piercing

2) The day I decided I wanted nothing to do with God or Christianity

1) The day I understood God’s love and my purpose in life

I look at just the past year of my life. All I can say is it is incredible. I have been changed and molded by God so much in just one year. I was telling my pastor recently, I don’t really even recognize the old me. When looking back at that guy I think to myself, “that guy was so miserable, with his selfish desires”.

The greatest thing that has happened to me in the past year “ish” is  my understanding of God and who He is. There is some questioning I still have but I cannot imagine where I would be now otherwise.

For those who say they follow Christ this will be my challenge to you only that you fulfill the greatest commandment and if you do not understand how to do so then find someone who can teach you how to.

The Greatest Commandment as spoken by Jesus Himself:

This is the most important, Jesus answered:

LISTEN, ISREAL! THE LORD OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE. LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART ALL YOUR SOUL ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.

The second is: LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. There is no commandment greater than these.

Mark 12:29-31 Holman Christian Standard Bible

Later in that passage a pharisee repeats what he understands that Jesus said. Jesus responds to him and tells him that if he keeps those commands then he is not far from the kingdom of God.

I wish that all “christian’s” hearts were not far from the kingdom of God, however, I think even the non christian can safely say in general that christians are nothing like the God we serve. I would have to agree. I pray that my christian readers would learn how to obey the Greatest Commandment as spoken by Jesus Himself. I believe if we as christians did this we could have an impact in the world. I have lots of thoughts regarding this issue not all that I feel are appropriate for this entry, maybe in the future.

I love you all,

PeACe
